A discussion around park equity solutions that address disparities head-on.
April 12, 2023
The Policy Roadmap to Parks for All is a Park Bench Chat hosted by Trust for Public Land and Next City. Join us for a dynamic conversation between 10-Minute Walk Champion Mayors Mayor Mattie Parker of Fort Worth, Texas and Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The session will be moderated by esteemed professors from the College of Charleston, Dr. Morgan Hughey, and Dr. Kendra Stewart.
During this hour-long virtual event, Mayor Parker and Mayor-President Broome will explore a wide variety of park equity solutions that both address this disparity head-on and leverage parks to create healthy, thriving, equitable cities. Attendees will also learn about new policy work being conducted via a unique and groundbreaking partnership between Trust for Public Land and the College of Charleston, which will help city leaders address and reduce the outdoor equity gap that affects more than 100 million people, including 28 million children, in the U.S. who do not have a park within a 10-minute walk from home.
