Picnic in the Clouds

Saturday April 2nd, Noon – 3:00pm

Fisher Building, 3011 W Grand Blvd

RSVP HERE (required, due to overwhelming interest and limited capacity)

Have you ever seen something so breathtaking that you feel you must share it? You know that catching a glimpse of such a sight will restore your sense of wonder or soften the hard edges of daily life. Jack Butler, an Imagineer and CEO of Butler Graphics, has an office atop the famed Fisher Building and has made “Ambassador To the Sky” part of his job description.

Join us atop this manufactured mountain of limestone, granite and marble for a picnic and conversation!

Bring a personal picnic or something to share! Binoculars recommended.

Traffica Island

Friday May 1st (6 PM – Sunset) at the Traffic Island at the intersection of I-75 + M8

Approach from the North West and use the train bridge to cross the highway.

Look both ways for trains before crossing.

Join us for our first picnic of the summer! We will meet at the crest of a grassy hill in a gyre of concrete and automobiles in motion. Atop this picturesque hill we will enjoy a sunset picnic and conduct a meditative vocal experiment.

Bring: (optional, but enthusiastically encouraged)

  • A picnic blanket
  • A personal picnic or items to share
  • A safety vest if you have one

Ideas for Creative Leisure

Saturday January 24th, 1-6pm

@ Public Pool 3309 Caniff Avenue, Hamtramck

Join us this Saturday for “Ideas for Creative Leisure” a picnic workshop focused on accumulating both inspired and mundane ideas for recreation. We will draw inspiration from the Fluxus event scores of Yoko Ono, George Brecht and others. The original event scores that are produced during this workshop will be distributed to the masses via a 25 cent vending machine located within the gallery. This is also a great opportunity to see the “Picnics in the Polar Vortex” exhibition, and peruse the Picnic Club Library!
